Vientos del Cauca, explores three distinct territories within the Cauca department: Puracé, Guapi, and Silvia. These regions, though highly varied in their cultural practices and ways of life, are powerfully linked by one particular sound: the traditional chirimías musical ensembles. In our search for these unique Caucan rhythms, we approach the diverse cultural contexts and traditions of Indigenous, Mestizo (mixed-race), and Afro-descendant communities, beginning a journey where music opens the doors to the entire geographical, environmental, and cultural diversity of Cauca.
In each of the series' three chapters, we will discover a magical place in Cauca where the residents, their stories, and our travels allow us to visit unique landscapes and cultures that are always framed by the search for the common factor uniting these territories: the Chirimía.
To the rhythm of flutes and drums, we will walk through these territories, discovering the majesty of volcanoes, rivers, and lagoons, but also the greatness of the Caucan people, community traditions, local gastronomy, and popular culture.
