Moving in laboratories "Días en Blanco" (Days in White)

After finishing Mañanitas, its director Santiago Chacón Narváez begins writing his first fiction feature film, «Días en blanco», and with whom we reached an agreement to support the writing and development process. After reviewing the first script version, initial feedback was provided and supplemented with necessary elements for applying to specialized writing and development labs.

Several applications were made, and a positive response was happily received. The first space to recognize the value of «Días en blanco» is ESTELAB-Crea, which is a residency that seeks to strengthen the narrative coherence and creative aspects of developing feature film projects. ESTELAB is taking place this year in Peru, where Santiago traveled to work on the revision and rewriting of the statement of intent, the storyline, the synopsis, the treatment, and the script, with the support of high-level advisors. This residency is carried out in a mixed manner, as it included a diagnostic stage in virtual modality, a creative exploration stage in person in Lima, Peru, from June 9 to 13, and a follow-up session in virtual modality.

Casi paralelamente nos llegó la noticia de que «Días en blanco» también era uno de los guiones que estaba seleccionado en la Residencia Coocine para cineastas, un espacio de formación que realizamos con el apoyo del Fondo para el Desarrollo Cinematográfico (FDC) que busca aportar en la consolidación de proyectos cinematográficos de largometraje en diversas fases (escritura, preproducción y postproducción) a través de acompañamiento en temas específicos del quehacer cinematográfico.
Al ser seleccionados, el proyecto a través de Santiago recibió tutorías en Creación de personajes a cargo de Luckas Perro; La forma de escribir y reescribir, a cargo de Martha Hincapié; y El guion como territorio sensorial a cargo de Mauricio Maldonado. La residencia inmersiva durante una semana se realizó en la Casa Coocine en el corregimiento de Santa Helena de Medellín del 16 al 20 de junio.

June is not over, and the good news keeps arriving; the 13th edition of LabGuion reports that after intense analysis and evaluation, the Selection Committee, commissioned by the Cinefilia corporation, has selected «Días en blanco» as one of the projects to participate in this lab, perhaps the most recognized space, with a valuable track record that has strengthened many films in Colombia and Latin America. In October, Santiago will participate in this space in Santa Fe de Antioquia.
